His appointment further strengthens the agency’s leadership team.

He joins after two years at Clemenger BBDO as Chief Strategy and Experience Officer, where he developed integrated platforms for brands including HCF, Great Northern Brewing Company, Solo Energy, Carlton Dry, MYER, Samsung, TAC and the Federal Government.

He was also part of the team behind Clemenger’s double-Gold wins at the 2025 Effies and helped secure new business with Kmart, COLORBOND®, L’Oréal, and the NSW Police Force.

A focus on inclusivity and modern capability

Beyond his agency work, Wassef is a member of the Advertising Council Australia’s CREATE SPACE steering committee and teaches AdSchool’s Advanced Strategy course, reflecting his commitment to building a more inclusive and forward-thinking industry.

“I build teams and capabilities for modern businesses who want to win,” Wassef said.

“M+C is the best place to build: grown up, in control of its destiny and 100% focused on client success. And Dani and Emma are the best people to build with. I’m really excited.”

Bassil’s leadership team takes shape

The appointment completes M+C Saatchi’s ANZ leadership team under CEO Dani Bassil, following the addition of Group Chief Creative Officer Emma Robbins, Managing Director Tanya Vragalis, Chief Marketing Officer Anita Zanesco, Managing Partner, Passions & PR, Rhian Mason, and Managing Director, M+C Saatchi Consulting and Re, Ben Harrison.

Bassil said Wassef’s appointment will deepen the Group’s strategic strength: “I’m thrilled to have Simon join us. He brings a rare mix of intelligence, empathy and creative drive that will add so much to our leadership team and our clients’ businesses.”

The move follows several key hires, including Topher Jones as Client Experience Director, Louise Rutherford as Client Partner, and Jeremy Hogg as National Executive Creative Director.
