Kyle Sandilands responds to radio survey win: “The greatest of all time!”

• Kyle spoke to the Winter Breakfast team whilst on holiday in Port Douglas

It’s been a day to celebrate for the team at KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O Show. Coming off their best-ever breakfast ratings, the FM market leaders Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O saw their breakfast share of 12.9% in Survey 3 turn into a massive 15.5%. This means they have now posted their best-ever breakfast shares in two successive surveys after 12.9% in Survey 3.

While Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O are currently taking a break from their on-air duties, Winter Breakfast host Mitch Churi and producer Pedro Cuccovillo Vitola decided to give them a ring and find out how they felt about the news.

While Jackie O didn’t answer, Kyle picked up whilst on holiday in Port Douglas. He started by saying that he’d just been speaking to fellow radio star, John Laws.

“I just got off the phone to Lawsy, Lawsy was like you’re the greatest of all time!” recounted Sandilands.

The big take away from the survey was that KIIS FM and The Kyle and Jackie O Show had ended the reign of 2GB’s breakfast show as the number one show in Sydney – making it the number one brekkie show across AM and FM radio. Previously helmed by Alan Jones, the show is currently hosted by Ben Fordham

Still on air, Sandilands said he hadn’t spoken to Fordham yet, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying on Fordham’s part.

“I missed two calls from Ben while I was on the phone with Lawsy and I thought ‘Oh what a desperate, leave me alone!’” said Sandilands.

The call didn’t last much longer, and Sandilands left saying that he had to go because he had “non-stop calls coming through”.

The breakfast tidal wave washed right across the station with morning and drive also up. Will and Woody are now #1 FM drive in Sydney, pushing aside smoothfm. The biggest demo move was 25-39 where share lifted 4.4 to 23.1%.
