Biggest BBL season ever delivers record audiences for Kayo Sports

The record-breaking season follows a sustained run of audience highs for the subscription service.

The 2025/26 KFC Big Bash League season has delivered the most watched BBL season of all time across Kayo Sports and the wider Foxtel Group platforms, capping off a record-breaking ‘Summer of Cricket’.

Driven by streaming growth, the season recorded 1.1 billion minutes streamed, up 9% year-on-year, and achieved the highest average audience ever for a BBL season on Kayo Sports and across Foxtel Group platforms.

Finals series sets new benchmarks

The BBL|15 Finals series also broke records, becoming the most-watched BBL Finals series of all time. The Qualifier, Challenger and Knockout Final each ranked as the most-watched matches of their kind in the league’s history.

FOX Sports managing director Steve Crawley said the result reflected continued investment in broadcast innovation.

“It has been a privilege bringing every ball of this exhilarating BBL season to our customers,” Crawley said. “Each year we continue to innovate our coverage, anchored by our world class commentary team.”

“Our production this season clearly resonated with audiences, driving the most-watched Big Bash League season to date and building on the successes of our massive ‘Summer of Cricket’,” he said.

Crawley also acknowledged the broader collaboration behind the season’s success.

“Congratulations to the teams FOX Sports, Cricket Australia, and to the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers for an exciting final that capped off an incredible season,” he said.

Strong club performances and social growth

The Brisbane Heat, Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers were the most-watched teams during the regular season.

Brisbane Heat’s clash with the Perth Scorchers, which featured a record-breaking run chase, became the most-streamed regular-season BBL match of all time.

Off-platform engagement also surged, with BBL|15 delivering 128 million social media impressions, 106 million video views, and 5.2 million engagements across Kayo Sports’ social channels, marking the league’s biggest social season to date.

Cricket Australia backs broadcast partnership

Cricket Australia executive general manager of Big Bash Leagues Alistair Dobson said the numbers reinforced the competition’s global standing.

“BBL|15 has been a record-breaking season capped off by another incredible performance by the Perth Scorchers as they claimed a record sixth Big Bash League title,” Dobson said.

“The broadcast and attendance numbers from The Finals series and season at large confirm the BBL as one of the biggest and most popular T20 Leagues in world cricket,” he said.

“The success of the competition is not possible without the outstanding support of our broadcast partners, and we thank FOX Sports for their ongoing support of the BBL,” Dobson added.

The record-breaking BBL season follows a sustained run of audience highs for Kayo Sports.

The 2025/26 Ashes series was the most-streamed Test series of all time, while the 2025 Supercars Championship also delivered its most-streamed season ever.

The ‘Summer of Cricket’ continues with every match of the Australia v India Women’s series streaming live, in HD and ad-break free during play, on Kayo Sports and Foxtel from 15 February.
