Are Media has appointed former Australian Community Media (ACM) chief technology officer Bruce Levine as Director of Technology and Product, strengthening its executive leadership team as the publisher continues to invest in its technology and digital capabilities.

Levine joins Are Media after leading digital transformation initiatives at ACM. He has also held senior technology leadership roles at Fairfax Media and AGL.

Leading technology strategy

In the role, Levine will lead Are Media's technology strategy, focusing on building a more agile publishing framework, strengthening data and personalisation capabilities, and accelerating innovation across the business.

Are Media CEO Sally Eagle said the appointment supports the company's ongoing investment in technology and digital experiences.

"Are Media has some of the country's most trusted and influential lifestyle content brands, and we're focused on ensuring we have the capabilities to deliver those experiences wherever and however audiences choose to engage with us. Bruce brings an exceptional combination of technical expertise and media experience, and his leadership will be instrumental as we continue to evolve and optimise our digital ecosystem."

Executive leadership team

Levine said he was looking forward to joining the business.

"Are Media occupies a unique position in the Australian market, with an extraordinary portfolio of brands that have deep relationships with Australian women built over decades. The opportunity is to ensure the technology framework that supports audience consumption allows us to move faster, innovate more effectively and create richer experiences for consumers and partners alike."

The appointment follows a period of investment in Are Media's digital and social footprint, video and audio offerings, and membership products. Levine commenced on 27 July and reports to CEO Eagle.
