Streets, part of The Magnum Ice Cream Company, has entered a multi-year national partnership with the Australian Red Cross to support communities impacted by emergencies across Australia.
The partnership combines the Red Cross’s humanitarian capabilities with Streets’ national reach, aiming to deliver both immediate support and long-term recovery assistance as climate-driven disasters increase in frequency and severity.
Expanding emergency response
Through the partnership, Australian Red Cross will scale its 24/7 emergency support services, including evacuation assistance, psychosocial care, family reunification and long-term recovery programs.
With support from Streets, the organisation aims to expand its volunteer base, improve response times and strengthen recovery efforts nationwide.
Scott Mingl, General Manager ANZ at The Magnum Ice Cream Company, said the partnership builds on the brand’s legacy of connection with Australians.
“For generations, Streets ice cream has brought joy to Australians… we’re proud to extend that spirit into moments when people need it most,” Mingl said.
Comfort in crisis
Streets will work alongside Red Cross teams at evacuation centres, recovery hubs and community events, offering small gestures such as ice cream to help ease emotional strain and create a sense of normality during difficult times.
Andrew Colvin AO APM, Chief Executive Officer at Australian Red Cross, said the partnership highlights the importance of emotional support during crises.
“In times of crisis, connection and kindness matter just as much as practical support… together, we will help communities prepare, respond and recover,” Colvin said.
Building long-term resilience
Beyond immediate response, the partnership will support initiatives focused on rebuilding social connection, wellbeing and stability in communities recovering from disasters.
Streets will also become a National Supporter of EmergencyRedi Week, helping the Red Cross reach its goal of preparing one million Australians over three years through readiness programs.
As part of the agreement, The Magnum Ice Cream Company will join the Australian Red Cross Collective, an alliance of major organisations working together to deliver coordinated community resilience initiatives.
