Sky News Australia will celebrate a key programming milestone this month, marking fifteen years of Paul Murray Live with a one-hour anniversary special set to air on Wednesday 26 November at 9.00pm AEDT.
The special edition, hosted by longtime colleague Laura Jayes, turns the focus onto Paul Murray himself.
The conversation will revisit how the program has evolved over a decade and a half, its most notable on-air moments, and Murray’s approach to opinion broadcasting.
The show’s place in Sky News’ schedule
Since launching in 2009, Paul Murray Live has become one of the network’s most recognisable formats. Murray has interviewed political figures, cultural personalities and international guests, developing a style built around long-form conversation and commentary.
For Sky News, the program has contributed to its broader primetime strategy, with Murray’s nightly presence playing a role in building audience consistency across the schedule.
On the road and in regional Australia
Outside the studio, Murray has fronted the Paul Murray Live: Our Town series, which has travelled through regional communities to highlight local issues and profile grassroots initiatives. The series has helped raise funds for community organisations and charities over several seasons.
Murray said the milestone offered a brief moment to reflect: “I’ve got the best seat in the house. To live these wild times and to be able to share my perspective on the big stories is an endless honour.
“I want to thank anyone who has been on the show, the very talented people who have helped me make it, Sky News and News Corp management for their endless support, everyone who has watched for a night or for years in a row and most importantly my family.”
Sky News leadership acknowledges milestone
Sky News Australia chief executive officer Paul Whittaker said the anniversary reflects Murray’s longevity and audience rapport.
“Congratulations to Paul Murray on an extraordinary fifteen years hosting Paul Murray Live,” Whittaker said.
“This milestone reflects not only his exceptional talent as a fearless straight talker, but his absolute passion for this great country of ours and a deep commitment to informing and engaging with his audience on the issues they care about most.”
The Paul Murray Live: 15th Anniversary Special premieres Wednesday 26 November at 9.00pm AEDT on Sky News Australia, with streaming available via SkyNews.com.au and the Sky News app.
