Omnicom is merging media agencies Mediahub and Hearts & Science across its global markets, with Hearts & Science's Garrett O'Reilly set to become UK chief executive of the combined entity.

In Australia, however, the two agencies will continue to operate independently, with no changes to how either business is run locally.

No local impact

In a statement to Mediaweek, a spokesperson said the Australian arms of both agencies would be unaffected by the global restructure, citing the market's distinct operating model.

"Mediahub and Hearts & Science are coming together across our markets globally. In Australia, however, there will be no change to the way either agency operates. This reflects our unique Australian operating model, where both agencies operate independently," the spokesperson said.

The only local change will be a rebrand of Hearts & Science, which is set to adopt a new brand identity next month.

"The only change locally is that Hearts & Science will adopt a new brand identity next month. Beyond that, it is very much business as usual. Our clients will continue to be supported by the same teams, the same leadership and the same capabilities they know and trust," the spokesperson said.

Details of the new Hearts & Science brand identity are expected to be revealed next month. Mediaweek will continue to monitor how the global Mediahub–Hearts & Science merger takes shape in other markets and whether it prompts any further changes locally.
