Mission accepted: Robert Irwin takes over the Logies

Robert Irwin will host The 66th TV WEEK Logie Awards, taking charge of Australian television’s biggest night live on Seven and 7plus from 7.00pm on Sunday, 16 August.

The wildlife conservationist and television personality will trade his signature khakis for a tuxedo as the ceremony celebrates the country’s leading programs and stars. The event will also mark 70 years of Australian television.

From wildlife to live television

Irwin has built an international profile through wildlife conservation and television. He also recently won the US season of Dancing with the Stars.

The hosting role places Irwin at the centre of Seven’s live awards coverage. Comedy veteran and former Logies presenter Mick Molloy has offered him advice ahead of the ceremony.

The announcement said Irwin received “a few tips, tricks and sound words of advice” from Molloy as he prepared to take the stage.

Logies celebrates television milestone

This year’s awards will recognise seven decades of Australian television. The ceremony will celebrate the programs, performers and production talent that have shaped the local industry.
