Michael Hill appoints EssenceMediacom across three markets

The jewellery retailer has named EssenceMediacom its media agency partner across Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

Michael Hill has appointed EssenceMediacom as its media agency partner across Australia, New Zealand and Canada following a competitive review. The new partnership will begin on 27 July 2026.

The appointment moves the jewellery retailer’s media remit from Omnicom Media Group, which worked with Michael Hill for five years. Michael Hill said Omnicom supported the business through a period of transformation and helped advance its media capabilities.

A more integrated marketing model

EssenceMediacom will work with a bespoke WPP Media team that brings together media, commerce, data and AI-enabled capabilities. Michael Hill said the model would help it create more connected customer experiences and improve marketing effectiveness across its three markets.

Jo Feeney, chief marketing officer at Michael Hill, said the retailer wanted a marketing structure that could respond more quickly to changes in customer behaviour and the retail market.

“As Michael Hill continues to evolve, we’re focused on building a marketing model that is more connected, more agile and better equipped for the future,” Feeney said.

EssenceMediacom outlines growth focus

EssenceMediacom secured the account after presenting its approach during the competitive process. The agency will draw on specialist capabilities from across WPP Media under one integrated team.

Pippa Berlocher, EssenceMediacom Australia and New Zealand chief executive, said the agency would support Michael Hill’s next phase of marketing development.
