Resonate Radio Group has appointed Deb Gillespie as Group Sales Manager to oversee commercial strategy across its Queensland network.

Group General Manager Geoff Speed said Gillespie’s regional radio experience and industry relationships would support the company’s commercial growth.

“Deb has an outstanding track record, a deep understanding of regional Queensland and a genuine commitment to our clients and communities,” Speed said.

“Her appointment reflects our belief in backing experienced people and investing in the future of regional radio.”

Regional radio experience

Gillespie began her radio career at 4VL Charleville in 2006. She has held senior industry positions, including Group Sales Manager with Macquarie Regional Radio.

At Resonate, she has worked as Traffic Manager and, most recently, Sales Manager for the network’s southern Queensland stations.

Gillespie led the 4SB Kingaroy sales team to the ACRA Regional Sales Achievement Award in 2018. She has also worked with national agency representatives, advertisers and industry stakeholders.

Commercial focus

Resonate operates 11 radio stations and 34 broadcast transmitters, reaching approximately 40% of Queensland.

“Resonate Radio provides advertisers with significant reach across some of Queensland’s strongest regional economies, with 11 radio stations, 34 broadcast transmitters and reach to 40 per cent of Queensland,” Gillespie said.

“Our network offers agencies and advertisers access to regional communities in the heart of Queensland’s mining, resources, energy, agriculture, tourism and service industries, providing access to an engaged 30-plus audience with strong employment, household incomes and purchasing power.”

She said FIFO and DIDO workers were an important audience across the network’s markets.

“An important part of the opportunity is the substantial FIFO and DIDO workforce operating across many of our markets. These workers spend significant periods travelling, on site and living within regional communities, making radio particularly effective at reaching them throughout their work rotations. When they return home, they take that spending power with them, so their value to advertisers extends well beyond the regional communities where they work.”

“Our commercial strength is the combination of network scale with locally relevant programming. Our content includes local and national news, current affairs, talkback, sport and vital industry information. It creates a trusted and highly engaged environment for advertisers,” Gillespie said.

“For agencies and national brands, the message is simple: don’t underestimate regional Queensland. It is a diverse and economically important market, and Resonate provides an efficient way to reach those consumers at scale.”
