‘Good people out of a job’: Beau Ryan’s warning about Sandilands axing

“They don’t have hundreds and hundreds of thousands [of dollars] to fight their dismissal.”

This morning on his Sydney radio show, Triple M Breakfast with Beau, Cat & Woodsy, Beau Ryan has reacted to the shock termination of Kyle Sandilands’ contract with ARN media.

Ryan – a former contributor on the KIIS Breakfast and close friend of Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson – shared his immediate reaction to the news.

Speaking with co-hosts Cat Lynch and Aaron ‘Woodsy’ Woods, Ryan said his immediate concern was with the broader team behind the show, highlighting the impact on staff who may now be out of work.

He noted that while Sandilands is expected to pursue legal action, many behind-the-scenes staff do not have the same resources to challenge their situation.

Lynch predicted that the situation is about to become “very messy” as the situation turns to legal proceedings.

‘Lots of good people out of a job’

Ryan said, “I’ve been over there many times. We’ve all got friends that work over there at KIIS, and there are a lot of really good people out of a job right now.”

Woods agreed, saying, “Yeah, it’s not just Kyle and Jackie O, it’s the whole team that work.”

Ryan added, “If Kyle is terminated and the Kyle & Jackie O Show is over, they’re all without a job. They don’t have hundreds and hundreds of thousands [of dollars] to fight their dismissal.”

Lynch replied, “And that’s the key part! You’ve got a lot of people in limbo that haven’t been earning that multi-million-dollar contract.”

Woods also wondered about Sandilands’ future. “So, he could get a job somewhere else and still get his money back off ARN?”

Ryan wasn’t sure. “If he’s been terminated, his terms are done… he could be back on tomorrow if he wanted, but at the moment he’s trying to chase what he’s owed.”

In the conversation, Lynch predicted, “This is going to be a bit of a drawn-out process… and it’s going to get very messy.”

Finally, Ryan mused: “The thing with this is that we’re the longest-serving Breakfast show (laughs), and we still are.

“They’ve signed the deals and at the end of the day, this is business. We’ve just got to keep doing our thing being the longest-running Breakfast show…”
