Dr Chris Brown turns up heat with Mutti amid KIIS Breakfast rumours
The KIIS Breakfast rumour mill meets red velvet as Dr Chris Brown fronts Mutti and WiredCo.’s latest Saucy Stories instalment.

Dr Chris Brown, television presenter and vet is turning up the heat. The former Bondi Vet has swapped his wholesome television persona for red velvet, candlelight and romance fiction in the latest instalment of Mutti and WiredCo.’s Confessions of a Muttiholic: Saucy Stories.
From KIIS whispers to a saucier Dr Chris Brown
Kyle Sandilands fuelled speculation in August when he said his information was that Brown and Gerard would take over KIIS Breakfast. Brown later addressed the rumour on Fifi, Fev & Nick, saying he had been congratulated on the Logies red carpet before he even knew what people were talking about.
He said he had to Google himself to discover the source of the speculation and described Sandilands’ claim as “not true”. ARN is still preparing a new Sydney breakfast show, which the network has said will launch later this year.
Against that backdrop, Mutti’s latest creative gives audiences a very different version of Brown. The new story, Love Thy Neighbour, puts him in an intentionally heightened romance setting as he narrates a fan-inspired tale involving a Mutti tin-can telephone and a mysterious neighbour’s linguine all’Arrabbiata.

Samantha Filocamo, Marketing Director at Mutti ANZ, said the series was designed to turn genuine fan behaviour into unexpected entertainment. “The response to Saucy Stories has shown us that people love seeing Mutti turn genuine fan obsessions into something completely unexpected,” she said.
Mutti plays against Brown’s wholesome image
The campaign deliberately leans into the contrast between Brown’s familiar public image and the romance genre. Dressed entirely in red, Brown reads from an oversized romance novel against velvet curtains, candles, tomatoes and Mutti products.
Joe Stuart, Creative Director at WiredCo., said that contrast created some uncertainty during production. “There was definitely creative jeopardy in this one,” he said.
“Australia knows Chris as the Bondi Vet; warm, trusted and very familiar. We were asking him to walk onto a set of red velvet and candlelight, and deliver a romance story like he absolutely meant every word.”
The story began with a real Mutti fan confession before award-winning Penguin Random House author Emma Mugglestone adapted it into romance fiction. Director Lachlan Dickie then worked with Brown to make sure the performance committed to the genre rather than simply playing the concept as a joke.
“The breakthrough was when Chris stopped performing the idea of a saucy narrator and just became one,” Stuart said. “That commitment is what makes the film funny, surprising and, frankly, much spicier than we expected.”
Dylan Alcott joins Saucy Stories
Paralympic champion and disability advocate Dylan Alcott also joins the latest phase of the campaign. His story is drawn from another fan confession, this time about someone convinced an engagement ring had been hidden inside a jar of Mutti Passata.
The two executions give the series contrasting performances, with Brown leaning into exaggerated romance while Alcott brings a lighter approach. Mutti and WiredCo. said both stories continue the campaign’s use of real customer confessions as the starting point for its creative.
The new work follows the first Saucy Stories instalment featuring Sam Kerr. Mutti and WiredCo. said Kerr’s launch chapter has generated more than 19 million views and 3.8 million audio streams.
How Mutti is extending the campaign
The campaign was produced by Rabbit and directed by Dickie. WiredCo. is supporting the latest release through paid, owned and earned activity spanning video, social and audio, before connecting audiences back to Mutti around meal planning and purchase.
Oliver Carthy, Head of Paid Media at WiredCo., said Brown gives the campaign a new reveal moment across those channels. The media strategy is designed to build attention around each instalment while maintaining recognition for the broader Saucy Stories platform.
Samantha Nunura, General Manager of Client Services and Business Operations at WiredCo., said the series was built to continue beyond a single celebrity appearance. “Saucy Stories was designed to keep giving people something new to discover, rather than peak with one celebrity and disappear,” she said.
