NOVA Entertainment has added one of Australia’s most popular female-led podcasts to its growing audio slate, with Two Broke Chicks joining the Nova Podcasts network as the company sharpens its appeal to young female audiences and commercial partners.
Created and hosted by journalists and best friends Sally McMullen and Alexandra Hourigan, the podcast has built a sizeable community by blending humour, lived experience and practical advice across careers, money, identity and relationships.
The partnership marks a strategic expansion of Nova’s lifestyle content, tapping into a highly engaged demographic of young women navigating rising living costs, digital overload and comparison culture.

A community-first podcast
Since launching independently, Two Broke Chicks has developed a strong digital ecosystem around the show, with the duo reaching more than 1.1 million followers across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.
Their broader community also includes the Broke Chicks Club Facebook group, where listeners share budgeting tips, lifestyle insights and conversations around financial stress and ambition.
For McMullen, the partnership provides room for the podcast to evolve while maintaining the connection with its audience.
“This show has grown alongside our community, and it means so much that people trust us with their stories and their time. Joining Nova Podcasts gives us space to evolve while keeping the heart of Two Broke Chicks exactly where it belongs, with the people who listen.”
Hourigan said the show’s tone – honest, funny and practical – would remain at its core.
“We have always wanted the podcast to feel like a safe, funny, honest corner of the internet. Partnering with Nova allows us to keep building that feeling and reach more people who might need a pep talk, a financial hack or just a laugh.”
For Nova, the deal reflects a broader strategy of scaling premium podcast content that already commands loyal audiences and strong brand affinity.
Rachel Corbett, Network Director of Nova Podcasts, said the show’s independent success made it a natural fit for the network’s commercial model.
“Sal and Al haven’t just built a popular podcast; they’ve built an unbelievable business. Growing an independent show to the size they have is no small feat. They understand their audience, they understand brand building, and they know how to create real value for commercial partners.”
The addition of Two Broke Chicks continues Nova’s strategy of expanding its podcast network through both original programming and partnerships with established creators.
The Nova Podcast Network already includes a mix of original titles and partner content spanning business, news, lifestyle and entertainment, with collaborators including FlightStory, Mentored, Podshape, Fear & Greed, Solstice Media, Johns Media, One Daydream, The Australian, Sky News Australia, The Daily Telegraph, Fox Sports Australia and news.com.au.
Under the new deal, Two Broke Chicks will be available on Nova Player from 16 March, while continuing to be distributed across major podcast platforms.
