TV Ratings May 1, 2022: The Voice continues to provide Seven with a killer hook

Total TV Ratings, April 24

Lego Masters was the top entertainment program in the total TV ratings for April 24, with an audience of 1,125,000, an increase of 49%. The show held off 10’s MasterChef Australia which had 772,000 viewers which increase by 33%, and Seven’s Hey Hey it’s 100 Years which had 701,000, an increase of 9%.

The ABC’s new Aussie drama Barons had 426,000 viewers up 54%.

Seven has continued to maintain its recent edge on Sunday nights which it has had since The Voice launched on April 18. The broadcaster has again secured the #1 primary channel share (24.8%) and network share (33.3%). This followed The Voice once again being the top non-news program for the evening, with an audience of 768,000. The episode saw Chriddy Black return to the show for redemption after his 2019 journey ended in the Battles with Team Guy. Guy Sebastian also used his remaining block to stop Jessica Mauboy from securing powerhouse performer Celestial Utai

An Audience with Adele followed The Voice with 483,000 viewers for Seven. Earlier in the day, the broadcaster had 379,000 viewers tune in for its afternoon AFL coverage.

On Nine, Lego Masters had 652,000 viewers as the seven teams were challenged to build tiny dragons that are small enough to fly on a drone. The winner got an advantage for the landscape build, which was won by Joss and Henry, with Branko and Max going home. Lego Masters has continued its trend of performing well in key demographics after finishing #1 in all key demos. The episode was up significantly on last week’s Anzac Day episode viewership of  511,000. 

60 Minutes followed with 456,000 viewers as journalist Tom Steinfort interviewed Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky. Earlier in the day, Nine’s afternoon coverage of the NRL had 249,000 viewers as the St George Illawarra Dragons held off the Wests Tigers.

On 10, The Sunday Project had 219,000 (6:30pm) and 341,000 (7:00pm) as the show covered the new housing affordability plan. MasterChef Australia followed at 7:30pm with 460,000 viewers as Shannon Bennett joined the kitchen as a guest judge. The episode was in the top five for every key demo and was up on last week’s 442,000 viewers.

On the ABC, Grand Designs had 409,000 viewers before the second episode of Barons had 148,000 tune in.

The top non-news program for SBS was Edward VIII: Britain’s Traitor King which had 161,000 viewers.
