• Sonny Bill Williams also makes his rugby commentary debut for Stan Sport and Nine

After a season packed with contests, both the Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa 2021 seasons culminate in a double-header this Saturday night, as dual-code superstar Sonny Bill Williams also makes his rugby commentary debut for Stan Sport and Nine.

From 5.00pm AEST, New Zealand’s Super Rugby Aotearoa competition concludes with the Crusaders, hunting for their record 11th Super Rugby title, facing off against the Chiefs at Orangetheory Stadium in Christchurch – ad-free, live and on-demand exclusively on Stan Sport.

While Crusaders will enter as favourites, it was the Chiefs that claimed the last victory between the two in a one-point victory.

Following this at 7.00pm AEST on Channel 9 (Sydney/Brisbane/Canberra), 9Gem (rest of country) and on Stan Sport with extended coverage before and after the game, the top two teams of the Super Rugby AU season will do battle to crown a winner, as the Queensland Reds host the ACT Brumbies.

Every clash between the two in recent times has been a nail-biter, with the Brumbies also having prevailed over the Reds to win the previous Super Rugby AU season.

Reds and Wallabies superstar, and Super Rugby AU MVP James O’Connor will look to complete his redemption story after battling through a rough patch in his career, and alongside strike weapons such as Jordan Petaia and Taniela Tupou, the Reds have every chance to pull off the victory.

Stan Sport host Roz Kelly exclusively sits down with O’Connor for a special feature to air pre-game, where he will detail the challenges he has faced in the past year, and what he has overcome to help the Reds get to where they are.

The Brumbies won’t go quietly though, with Wallabies stars Noah Lolesio, Nic White and Allan Alaalatoa doing everything in their power to ensure their side become back-to-back champions.

The action will be brought to you by Stan Sport and Nine’s commentary team, joined for the first time by Sonny Bill Williams as he offers his unique perspective on the game, players and coaches involved.

The action doesn’t stop there, however, as next week on Friday, May 14th the Trans-Tasman tournament kicks off, with every Super Rugby AU and Aotearoa side colliding in an absolute feast for rugby fans.

Every game will be available ad-free, live and on demand exclusively on Stan Sport, with one game per week also broadcast live on 9Gem every Saturday night.

Stan Sport is the only place to watch every match of the Super Rugby AU, Super Rugby Aotearoa, Trans-Tasman Tournament, The Rugby Championship, Bledisloe Cup, Shute Shield, Hospital Challenge Cup, Currie Cup, New Zealand’s National Provincial Championship and the Rainbow Cup, plus Super W, Wallabies and Wallaroos test matches, SANZAAR Union home tests, Japan’s Top League and more.
