The Seven Network has announced it will be the new official Australian broadcast media partner of the TCS Sydney Marathon, to be held 6.00am to 10.00am AEST Sunday, 31 August.
Coverage of the event, which is Australia’s largest marathon, will be seen across Australia live and free on 7mate and on 7plus. Highlights and replays will also be available to stream on 7plus Sport.
Legendary Seven broadcaster Bruce McAvaney OAM will lead the commentary team.
“Sydney’s elevation to join the likes of Boston, London and New York in the elite group of Abbott World Marathon Majors is an enormous compliment to our Harbour City. It gives Australia the equivalent of a world championship each year, attracting the best globally and inspiring runners at all levels to tackle the ultimate distance.
“For Seven to be involved in the first Sydney Marathon at this level is a great privilege and honour, and it promises to be a magnificent spectacle,” McAvaney said.
Naming rights for the Sydney Marathon are held by TCS, a global leader in IT services, consulting and business solutions. It also serves as the event’s official IT services and technology consulting partner, official volunteer program partner, and official fundraising partner.
“We are thrilled to showcase major sporting events such as the TCS Sydney Marathon where everyday Australians can mix it with athletic superstars including marquee runner Eliud Kipchoge. Bruce McAvaney will lead a stellar commentary team on Seven for the event.
“Seven takes immense pride in supporting Australian athletics with recent coverage of the Maurie Plant Meet, Stawell Gift, Australian Athletics Championships, and the upcoming Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games,” said Seven’s Commercial Director, Sport, Renee Quirk.
“We are thrilled to welcome Seven as our official Australian broadcast media partner to deliver the most compelling and accessible coverage in the event’s history.
“By teaming up with Australia’s most watched and trusted network, we’re not just expanding our reach, we’re showcasing the incredible talent of our elite athletes, the inspiring stories of everyday runners, and the breathtaking beauty of our city to a wider audience than ever before,” said TCS Sydney Marathon Race Director, Wayne Larden.
The TCS Sydney Marathon is owned by Athletics Australia and managed by Pont3. Further support is provided through tourism and major events agency Destination NSW.
