Frank Smith has joined Sky Racing in the newly created role of executive producer, overseeing content across Sky 1, Sky 2, Sky Thoroughbred Central, Sky Sports Radio and Radio TAB.
Smith was most recently executive producer of sport at Network 10, where he led broadcast coverage of marquee events including the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Formula 1, International Rugby, and V8 Supercars.
Sky Racing, owned by Tabcorp, broadcasts more than 150,000 live races annually across thoroughbred, harness, and greyhound codes to over 60 countries worldwide. Its domestic footprint spans 3,700 retail venues, homes via Foxtel, and digital platforms including the TAB app.
Jarrod Villani, Tabcorp’s chief commercial and media officer, said Smith’s appointment would strengthen Sky’s live production capabilities.
“Frank’s appointment is a real coup for Sky, he is one of the country’s most respected sports producers,” Villani said. “He played a key role in Ten’s Melbourne Cup coverage and was previously an executive producer at TVN.”
“I’m really looking forward to Frank evolving the on-air look and feel of Sky.”
Commenting on his new role, Smith said: “Sky is part of the DNA of Australian racing and I’m excited by the challenge of three live networks broadcasting every hour of every day.”
“There’s enormous opportunity to evolve how we present racing. Sky has a strong mix of emerging and established talent, and I’m looking forward to working with the team to bring our viewers even closer to the action.”
