Astus Australia hires former SCA commercial chief Seb Rennie as CCO
The former SCA commercial chief lands at a founder-led independent business, months after a post-merger restructure hit.

Former SCA Chief Commercial Officer Seb Rennie has joined Astus Australia as Chief Commercial Officer. He announced the move on LinkedIn, months after a post-merger restructure at SCA hit his role.
Rennie said he had worked with Astus since it launched in Australia, from both the media agency and media owner sides.
“I have seen first-hand the value they add through their collaborative approach to working with advertisers, media agencies and media owners,” he said.
“I’m delighted to join a founder-led independent business and am looking forward to working with the team to continue delivering for our partners.”

In a statement to Mediaweek, Astus Australia CEO David Jansen said that Rennie would “take full ownership of our commercial architecture, creating better outcomes for our advertiser, agency and media owner partners and developing new revenue opportunities for the future.”
“I’m delighted to welcome Seb as our Chief Commercial Officer. He’s one of the most respected people in our industry: level-headed, collaborative, and someone who knows how to build commercial partnerships that genuinely work for everyone involved,” Jansen said.
Jansen said he had worked closely with Rennie on both the agency and media owner sides.
“As we continue to grow as an independent business in Australia, he’s absolutely the right person to help cement Astus as the growth partner of choice for advertisers, agencies and media owners,” he said.
Rennie’s exit from SCA
Rennie left SCA in July after three and a half years as Chief Commercial Officer. The business changed its operating model as it integrated with Seven West Media following their merger.
“After three and a half years with SCA, my role as Chief Commercial Officer has been impacted following a change to the operating model post-merger, and I will be leaving the business this week,” he wrote at the time.
SCA said Rennie had “played a key role in strengthening the commercial capability of its audio business since joining in February 2023,” leading the sales team through a period of transformation and helping build client and agency relationships.
Rennie listed what the team achieved on his watch: “delivering sustained revenue and market share growth, standout Media I scores, 2025 AdNews Sales Team of the Year and helping to scale LiSTNR into a market-leading digital audio player.”
Alongside Rennie’s exit, SCA created a new Chief Revenue Officer role and appointed former Mamamia CEO Natalie Harvey.
