PEDESTRIAN.TV has launched Villain Edit, a new weekly podcast dedicated to unpacking the moments, participants and behind-the-scenes dynamics shaping reality television.
Hosted by PEDESTRIAN.TV’s Entertainment Editor Lachlan Guertin, the podcast debuts with a focus on Australia’s current reality TV fixation, Married At First Sight.
Peeling back the edit
Villain Edit aims to move beyond episode recaps, offering insider commentary, exclusive interviews and analysis of how reality TV narratives and “villains” are constructed both on and off screen.
Early guests have included Brittany Hockley, Laura Byrne and Alli Simpson, who shared firsthand insights into their experiences on reality programs.
“As a reality TV superfan, I’m beyond excited to be hosting Villain Edit and dissecting the cultural phenomenon that is reality TV. We’re moving beyond just recapping the episodes; we’re peeling back the curtain with the people who lived it and breaking down every scandal, edit and wild on-screen moment as it happens,” Guertin said.
A youth play in audio
The launch comes as reality television continues to dominate youth conversation and social media engagement in Australia, remaining one of the most culturally influential genres among young audiences.

Alex Bruce-Smith
PEDESTRIAN.TV Editorial Director Alex Bruce-Smith said the podcast marks the Pedestrian Group’s return to the audio space.
“Villain Edit marks Pedestrian Group’s exciting return to the podcast space. When it came to our first cab off the rank, reality TV was the obvious first choice. We know young audiences are obsessed with reality TV, but savvy enough to know what you watch each episode is only half the story. We’re bringing them the rest of the story each week, and the early results are proof audiences are hungry for more. Lachlan is a seasoned pro and a natural host, and I can’t think of anyone better to lead us into our podcasting era! There’s more to come, so watch this space,” Bruce-Smith said.
Villain Edit will release weekly episodes aligned with key reality TV programming throughout the year, expanding PEDESTRIAN.TV’s audio offering and creating new commercial opportunities for brands looking to connect with youth culture.
The podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and other major podcast platforms.
