OpenAI has published a quickstart guide for advertisers looking to launch their first campaign in OpenAI Ads Manager Beta.
The guide walks advertisers through three core steps: creating an Ads Manager Beta account, building campaigns and monitoring early performance signals after launch. OpenAI said all campaign creation and management for ChatGPT Ads takes place in Ads Manager Beta.
Advertisers can create campaigns through a guided, step-by-step flow or via bulk upload at scale.
Campaigns follow a three-part structure: campaign, ad group and ad.
The campaign sets the objective, budget, dates and targeting. The ad group organises ads around a specific theme or intent area. The ad includes the creative shown in ChatGPT, including title, copy, image and landing page.
Monitoring performance
Once campaigns are approved and serving, advertisers can monitor performance in Ads Manager Beta.
OpenAI said reporting currently includes impressions, clicks, spend, CTR, average CPC, average CPM and conversions, if conversion measurement is set up.
Performance can be reviewed through campaign, ad group, and ad table views, trend charts and downloadable CSV reports.
A new ad environment
OpenAI’s ads site positions ChatGPT Ads as a way for brands to reach people while they explore options, compare alternatives and make decisions inside ChatGPT.
The company describes the product as part of “AI-native advertising,” with richer conversational context signals replacing a purely keyword-led model.
