Journalists Antoinette Lattouf and Jan Fran, of Ette Media, have called out the ABC's host of 7:30, Sarah Ferguson over interviews she's conducted since 2022.

The pair last week told listeners of their podcast that they had re-watched 42 interviews Ferguson has done with guests about active conflict zones.

As a result of that, Ette Media has essentially accused Ferguson of displaying bias towards her own politics, in an investigation called, “How ABC's interview approach differs by conflict.”

In an Instagram post on the investigation, Ette Media shared the essential points of their work.

“An exclusive data analysis of interviews conducted on ABC's 7.30 paints a picture of the broadcaster's bias, particularly towards Israel," the first slide reads.

“Ette Media, with data analyst Dr Richard Bean, reviewed 42 interviews from ABC's 7.30 that aired between mid-2022 and August 2026, specifically with guests from Iran, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Lebanon and Palestine.”

The numerous subsequent slides added, “We observed a difference in tone, language and questions depending on where the guest was from.”

Ette Media said that the data clearly indicated a preference to interview Israeli over Palestinian guests.

It added, “Across the 42 interviews, Ferguson repeatedly used the terms ”savage" and “horrific”- but only to describe the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, never Israel's atrocities in Gaza."

Ette Media said that none of the Israeli people interviewed “were asked whether they condemned the actions of the state or Benjamin Netanyahu.”

The data also found four representatives from Russia and four from Ukraine were interviewed, but once again noted the difference between the interview styles.

Ette Media said that the opening questions to representatives of both countries were vastly different, with the question to the Russian guest seemingly an attack, but the question to the Israeli guest more inviting of a discussion.

Finally, it said that the Instagram carousel was a mere “snippet” of the investigation, and encouraged reads to see their full report on their site.

The ABC has not responded to the investigation.
