Nova Entertainment has launched a new podcast titled Four the Record, hosted by broadcaster Tim Blackwell and journalist Joe Hildebrand.
Each episode will drop Thursday mornings within the existing Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel podcast feed, and will explore current affairs through four key questions, offering a straightforward, commentary-driven format designed for time-poor audiences.
A short-form format built around clarity and consistency
The premise of Four the Record is simple: one major news story, four questions, and Hildebrand’s direct take. Described as “no spin, no BS,” the podcast strips away the layers of media commentary in favour of accessible, conversational breakdowns of complex issues.
Speaking on air during the Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel show, Blackwell said the podcast was born out of curiosity… and contrast.
“Joe knows everything, right? And I don’t. I’m that classic radio person who knows the headline but not the detail,” he said. “So I ask four questions to dig beneath the surface of the biggest story of the week.”
Hildebrand added: “I’m just cutting out the middleman. I just read the newspaper and tell you what’s in it.”
Nova’s podcast and radio ecosystem
The new title joins a growing stable of Nova Podcasts, with Four the Record directly tapping into the existing reach of Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel, which airs nationally on Nova from 4–6pm weekdays.
Nova is also leveraging the visibility of Hildebrand, who already hosts The Real Story with Joe Hildebrand, a separate weekly podcast under the Nova banner.
The podcast is available on the Nova Player or wherever listeners get their podcasts.
