Ross Stephenson almost missed a second consecutive radio ratings day, but after a few days in the sick bay, he was back. Not sure if he was still in the building when the new results were released. He would have heard that breakfast notched up yet another win on 21.7%. All dayparts eased a little. The slips were all less than 1.0 except for evening where the shows from 7pm until midnight dipped 1.7. In terms of rankings, breakfast, soon-to-depart Neil Mitchell in morning and evening are clear leaders. Tom Elliott lost overall drive bragging rights as he’s now outrated by Gold 104.3. Station lost a few listeners 40-54, but remains clear leader in older demos 55-64 and 65+.

Boom! Gold 104.3 returned to its former radio ratings leadership position in a big way. The Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show leapt 3.8 back to 12.2% to resume normal broadcast patterns from the past few years. The team are working on Grouse The Musical for their next listener event. All dayparts climbed with morning #1 FM and afternoon and drive #1 overall. All demos got a shot in the arm too. Huge station cume bump to up to 1.339m.

2022 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 9.6% (7.8%)
Best breakfast 9.6% (7.4%)

There was lots of talk about bags of cash on Fifi, Fev and Nick on survey day. But it wasn’t related to FM breakfast salaries, their guest was a former US mafia mob boss. The breakfast show managed to lift its share to 9.5%, but it was overtaken by Gold. Demo share 18-24 lifted 3.1 to 19.7% and Fox also remains #1 25-39.

The brag that KIIS is Melbourne’s richest cash station hasn’t helped share 10+ (yet), but it might be working in breakfast where Jase and Lauren lifted 0.4 to 7.9% and they are oh-so-close to outrating Will and Woody in drive who slipped 0.8 to 8.0%. The station did move ahead of Nova this survey though 10+. Share tumbled 18-24 (9.9% -4.8), was steady 25-39 (12.1% -0.7) and actually grew 40-54 (7.1% +0.2).
