Boomtown has opened applications for the second intake of its Boomtown Insiders program, with 10 emerging agency professionals set to join the regional media advisory council in 2027.

The collective is seeking strategists, planners and buyers with between three and six years’ media agency experience who want to help shape its approach to regional media and advertising.

What the Boomtown Insiders do

Insiders act as an advisory group to Boomtown, attending meetings to share perspectives and supporting initiatives including the Boomtown Hub regional media planning tool and the collective’s Masterclasses.

Members also have the opportunity to attend a bespoke regional Masterclass and the Cairns Crocodiles, reporting back to the industry on Boomtown’s behalf.

Boomtown chairman Nathan Patrick said the program was designed to give emerging media talent a stronger voice in the regional advertising conversation.

“As a collective, this is our opportunity to find the next generation of change makers in regional media, and help regional voices be heard.”

Patrick said feedback from the inaugural cohort had been “incredible”, with many participants describing the experience as “career changing”.

First cohort puts regional assumptions to the test

The inaugural Boomtown Insiders cohort travelled to Newcastle for its regional offsite, taking part in a Masterclass and industry discussions. Members of the cohort also represented Boomtown at Cairns Crocodiles.

Boomtown Insiders alumnus Matthew Tan said the program had challenged assumptions he held about regional Australia after moving to Sydney from New Zealand.

“Looking back, the biggest takeaway was gaining a different perspective, challenging assumptions, and thinking differently about where growth opportunities exist. It was a career-changing experience that gave me a completely different view of the market and a whole new mindset.”

Fellow alumnus Arya Mishra said hearing directly from regional media partners provided greater context around building solutions that were locally relevant, commercially viable and practical to deliver.

How to apply

Applicants must have between three and six years’ media agency experience. Boomtown’s application process asks candidates to submit a 90-second video explaining why they should join the program.

Applications close on Wednesday, 7 October, with the successful applicants to be announced later this year.
