Kayo Sports and SailGP have confirmed a new multi-year broadcast agreement.
This extends a partnership that has delivered every race of the global sailing championship to Australian audiences since SailGP’s inaugural season in 2019.
Under the renewed deal, every race of the Rolex SailGP Championship will continue to stream live and on demand across Kayo Sports and Foxtel.
Perth and Sydney to headline 2026 season
The 2026 SailGP season will open on home shores, with two Australian events leading the calendar.
The inaugural Oracle Perth Sail Grand Prix will run from 17–18 January, followed by the KPMG Sydney Sail Grand Prix from 28 February to 1 March.
Australia’s Bonds Flying Roos, led by Olympic gold medallist Tom Slingsby and backed by co-owners Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds, will compete against the world’s best in what Kayo Sports is positioning as a major summer highlight.
Strengthening a long-running partnership
Foxtel Group head of content acquisitions Marissa Banu-Lawrence said the relationship between Kayo Sports and SailGP has continued to deepen.
“Our partnership with SailGP has gone from strength to strength over the past six years, driven by a shared vision to bring Australian audiences closer to the action of the sports they love,” she said.
“Together, we’ve grown SailGP’s presence in Australia, connecting audiences closely to the speed, skill, and spectacle of the Championship through our coverage on Kayo Sports.”
She added that launching the 2026 season in Perth would help build further momentum for the sport locally.
Australia a flagship market for SailGP
SailGP CEO and co-founder Sir Russell Coutts said Australia remains a critical market for the league.
“Kayo Sports has been an incredible partner, working alongside us from the beginning. They have helped showcase the speed, spectacle and emotion of SailGP to Australian audiences as we continue to build one of the most passionate fan bases in the world,” Coutts said.
“Australia remains a flagship market for SailGP, with events in Perth and Sydney and a team that embodies the competitiveness and spirit that define our league.”
Founded by Coutts and Larry Ellison, SailGP features national teams racing identical 50-foot foiling catamarans at speeds exceeding 100km/h, with near-shore courses designed for broadcast-friendly viewing.
The renewal further bolsters Kayo Sports’ summer schedule, which already includes the Australian summer of cricket, the NBL, and U.S. sports via ESPN, including the NFL, NBA and NHL.
