Kayo numbers revealed: Fox League and Fox Footy post record Round 1 ratings

Fox League

Dees v Dogs highest rating AFL regular season match of all-time on subscription television

It has been a strong start to the football season as Kayo numbers have helped Fox Sports channels Fox League and Fox Footy post record ratings.

Fox League record Round 1

Round 1 was the highest performing regular-season NRL Round of all-time (436k average audience) for the Foxtel Group.

• Up +15% on corresponding 2021 R1 (378k)
• Up +8% on previous highest rating regular NRL season (R25 2021, 406k)

Saturday night’s Foxtel/Kayo exclusive Tigers v Storm game was #1 NRL regular-season game of all-time on subscription television with an average audience of 547k.

The second highest rating game of the 2022 opening round was the Cowboys v Bulldogs with an average audience of 473k.

Fox League also reminded viewers that 2022 will see more NRL games broadcast in 4K Ultra High Definition on Foxtel than ever before and Fox League continues to be the home to every game of every round.

Fox Footy kicks ratings goal

The 2022 AFL season launched Wednesday night with reigning premiers Melbourne defeating the Bulldogs in a rematch of last year’s Grand Final.

This was the first time the season began on a Wednesday night, breaking the traditional opening game between Richmond and Carlton that has been played on Thursday night for the past five years. That game was played last night and saw a huge AFL crowd which seems to indicate it might return as the season opener at least next year.

The Melbourne Demons v Western Bulldogs AFL season opener saw an average audience on Foxtel and Kayo of 458,000, up +25% on the 2021 AFL season opener (366k).

The game was the highest rating AFL regular season match of all-time on subscription television, up +3% on the previous highest rating regular AFL season match (R12 2021, Adelaide v Collingwood, 445k).
