Independent Media Agencies Australia – IMAA will bring its Fast.Future.Present event to Perth for the first time, with Mark Byrne headlining a keynote focused on how agency teams can work more effectively with generative AI.
The breakfast event will take place on 23 April in partnership with Nova Entertainment.
AI focus heads west
Byrne, founder of Headspring, will present a session titled “Escaping the Age of Average: How to Think Sharper, Work Smarter and Use AI Without Losing Your Edge,” followed by an audience Q&A.
The presentation builds on his recent work with organisations trying to move beyond basic generative AI adoption into practical operational use.
After a long career in media agencies, Byrne launched Headspring last year to help teams combine governance, training and behavioural change with everyday AI use.
His Perth session will draw on lessons from organisations attempting to embed AI into day-to-day work, with a focus on leadership, capability and measurable impact.
Mark Byrne said organisations are still struggling to guide how the technology is used.
“We have never seen a technology this disruptive or this widely used, yet so poorly guided by the very organisations it is reshaping. The upside is huge, not just in productivity, but in producing better work, faster. But the difference is not tool proficiency alone. The people who perform best are the ones who can monitor their own thinking, question outputs, and refine what AI gives them. Mindset matters as much as capability.
“I’m looking forward to sharing these insights and advice to the Perth indie agency community and I encourage anyone attending to bring questions to ask.”
Strong demand from WA members
The IMAA said the Perth edition follows strong demand from Western Australian members for more local access to industry development events.

Sam Buchanan
Sam Buchanan, chief executive of Independent Media Agencies Australia, said Byrne’s earlier Sydney presentation had resonated strongly with members.
“Mark Byrne’s presentation at our Sydney event was incredibly well received by members and partners, so we are excited to bring him to Perth to share his insights and tips for the new generative AI era we are living in. These events are vital for our industry, particularly as the sector is undergoing such rapid, transformative change – and thanks to Nova Entertainment, we are able to provide indie media agencies with the tools to stay at the forefront of innovation and value in an intimate setting.”
Antonell Doyle, Perth group commercial director at Nova Entertainment, said the event creates direct access to practical workplace trends.
“We are delighted to partner with the IMAA on the Fast.Future.Present event especially for Western Australian members. This is a great opportunity for the independent media agency community to get up close to the trends driving modern workplaces and how AI can be leveraged to add value and drive success for their people and clients.”
The event will be held at Pan Pacific Perth from 7.30am on Thursday 23 April
