Daily Mail Australia has named Aaron Macarthur as its new Head of Sales, a role that will see him lead the national sales operation and focus on growing digital revenue, innovation and partnerships.
He steps into the position with almost two decades of experience across media and ad tech.
Macarthur’s background includes senior commercial roles with News Corp, Southern Cross Austereo, Allure Media and Verizon. In recent years, he has worked more closely in ad tech and programmatic, founding his own content start-up, Convo Ink.
Daily Mail’s growth plans
Daily Mail AU Managing Director Lachlan Heywood said the appointment comes at an important time for the publisher. “Aaron has the runs on the board and comes at a pivotal time in Daily Mail’s evolution,” Heywood said.
The publisher has around 8 million readers a month, 7.5 million followers on social media and 20,000 digital subscribers. Recent investment has gone into video, long-form commentary and columnists, alongside a global rebrand consolidating all platforms under a single masthead.
Looking ahead
Macarthur said he was eager to build on the site’s strong connection with readers and advertisers. “Content is still the most powerful driver of attention and Daily Mail connects with culture in a way that keeps Australian audiences reading, talking and sharing every day,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to building on that connection with our partners.”
The new appointment aligns with the publisher’s “One Daily Mail, One Million” initiative – a push towards one million digital subscribers globally by 2028.
