What a wild ride this survey – sort of. Even though the ARN-managed brand has gone from #1 to #4 in one book, it is still very much in the game with less than 0.5 separating it from its competition. The reformed superstar trio of Robyn, Terry and Bob saw share dip from the 11.2% their predecessors had to 10.1%. Morning and afternoon were also down, but share was up for both Will and Woody and evening. Listeners 18-24 seem to like the changes at breakfast, station share 18-24 jumped 7.9 to 19.3%.

104.5 Triple M 11.3% (10.9%)

Best 10+ 12.4% (10.0%)
Best breakfast 11.7% (10.2%)

The new Marto, Margaux and Nick Cody breakfast show is now equal #1 in the market. It seems joined at the hip with Hit breakfast after the two shows were equal #2 last survey. Triple M is a clear #1 though thanks also to growth in morning and afternoon this survey.

Hit 105 10.8% (10.7%)

Cume 550,000 (+24,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 11.8% (9.4%)
Best breakfast 12.0% (9.5%)

Stav, Abby and Matt recorded their second best share in 12 months to rank equal #1 breakfast. Hit’s mornings and afternoons were also up, but the station has smaller shares than sister brand Triple M.

Nova 106.9 11.1% (10.4%)

Cume 625,000 (+67,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 12.9% (10.4%)
Best breakfast 12.9% (10.1%)

The station was in unchartered territory at the end of 2019, but it has rallied and all dayparts except morning are on the way up. Ash, Kip, Luttsy and Susie sit on 11.0%, up from last survey yet still their second equal smallest ratings. There were a couple of puzzling huge demo moves, including Nova down 5.2 to 15.6% 18-24.

4KQ 8.3% (8.2%)

Cume 237,000 (-4,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 10.5% (7.9%)
Best breakfast 10.5% (8.2%)

The AM music outfit will soon have a competitor with 4BH returning to the airwaves as a music station. The ratings dial hardly moved this survey with most results little changed except drive up and evening down.

4BC 6.7% (6.3%)

Cume 156,000 (+29,000)
2019 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 7.8% (5.5%)
Best breakfast 9.4% (6.4%)

The 2GB affiliate echoed the Sydney results with Alan Jones steady and Ray Hadley up. Drive had a small lift while evening climbed 1.6 to 8.8%.
