IMAA opens senior talent pipeline to indie agencies
The member-only directory connects independent agencies with senior freelance media talent for projects, pitches and workload spikes.

Independent Media Agencies Australia (IMAA) has launched its first Freelance Directory, giving member agencies a new way to find experienced media professionals for projects, pitches and periods of increased workload.
The member-only digital directory connects independent agencies with senior freelancers and consultants across the Australian media industry. It forms part of IMAA’s broader push to build a more sustainable talent pipeline for the independent agency sector.
Connecting indies with senior media talent
The directory is open to senior media professionals who are freelancing, consulting, between permanent roles or choosing more flexible work arrangements. Participants can list their experience, skills, location, availability and areas of expertise.
IMAA member agencies can use the directory when they need additional talent for new business wins, leave cover, short-term workload pressures or specialist projects.
Skills represented through the directory can include:

Sam Buchanan, CEO of IMAA, said the directory would help agencies access experienced talent while keeping senior professionals connected to the sector.
“This new directory is about supporting both sides of our community - there is an incredible depth of freelance expertise; this initiative makes it easier for independent agencies to connect with experienced, highly skilled talent when and how they need it, while also providing opportunities for senior staff to stay connected to the industry.”
Building the indie agency talent pipeline
Buchanan said the initiative also supports IMAA’s longer-term focus on strengthening the workforce available to independent agencies.
“Ultimately, the directory is another way the IMAA can use the strength of our network to connect people, create opportunities and build a more agile, collaborative independent media community.”
IMAA said its talent strategy spans attracting new entrants, developing the next generation of media professionals and creating opportunities for experienced people to continue contributing to the industry.
The Freelance Directory is now accepting submissions and is available to IMAA members through the IMAA website.
