VOZ brings together broadcaster content viewed on TV sets (OzTAM and Regional TAM TV ratings) and connected devices

There is a new way to measure Australia’s biggest TV shows.

Virtual Australia, or VOZ, is the foundation of Australia’s new Total TV reporting standard which started reporting data for Week 29 in July this year.

The chart below shows the biggest episodes for the biggest TV shows since then.

VOZ brings together broadcaster content viewed on TV sets (OzTAM and Regional TAM TV ratings) and connected devices (OzTAM’s VPM service, which captures online-delivered TV content, or BVOD) in a single detailed database.

The new system was conceived and developed by OzTAM, Regional TAM and Nielsen and provides all-screen, cross-platform planning and reporting for Australia’s television industry.

Participating BVOD broadcasters are ABC, Seven Network, Nine Network, Network 10, SBS and Foxtel.

• So far the biggest TV shows as per VOZ public data sees the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics on Seven ranking #1 with 3.847m.

• State of Origin Game 3 had just under 3m watching on Nine. Expect a new sports leader soon though with AFL and NRL Grand Finals not far away.

• The biggest reality show has been Seven’s launch episode of The Voice with 2.396m.

• Australian dramas are getting to show off the true size of their Total TV audience with Seven’s RFDS and Home and Away and ABC’s The Newsreader around 1.3m each.
