Nine and Seven clashed in Thursday TV ratings, as the Women’s Origin battled against an AFL blockbuster.

News broadcasts and premium sporting events led the charge for Thursday night viewing, as Nine and Seven battled for audience attention across the board.

Nine’s 9News recorded a total TV national reach of 2,195,000, a total TV national audience of 1,363,000 and a BVOD audience of 229,000.

Seven’s Seven News recorded a total TV national reach of 2,128,000, a total TV national audience of 1,387,000 and a BVOD audience of 173,000.

Nine’s Women’s State Of Origin 3rd recorded a total TV national reach of 1,993,000, a total TV national audience of 880,000 and a BVOD audience of 234,000.

Nine’s Tipping Point Australia recorded a total TV national reach of 1,667,000, a total TV national audience of 878,000 and a BVOD audience of 145,000.

Seven’s Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football recorded a total TV national reach of 1,634,000, a total TV national audience of 539,000 and a BVOD audience of 75,000.

Looking at the Consolidated 7 data for Thursday 21 May 2026, Seven’s Seven News secured the top position with a national reach of 2,152,000 and a BVOD audience of 178,000. Nine’s 9News followed closely, achieving a reach of 1,930,000 and a BVOD audience of 203,000.

In the sporting arena, Seven’s Seven’s AFL: Thursday Night Football pulled a massive reach of 1,717,000 and a national average audience of 650,000. Meanwhile, Nine’s Thursday Night NRL Live captured a reach of 1,312,000 and a national average audience of 597,000.

Entertainment programs also performed strongly, as Nine’s Tipping Point Australia reached 1,498,000 viewers, and Seven’s The Chase Australia locked in a reach of 1,372,000.
