This year Triple M celebrates more than 26 years of broadcasting the AFL

Triple M is gearing up for the 2023 AFL season with its lineup of footy legends, commentators, and experts, and welcoming Steve ‘Stevie J’ Johnson, with round one set to commence on Thursday, March 16.

This year Triple M celebrates more than 26 years of broadcasting the AFL. Calling every game, footy fans can listen to the entire season across Triple M and LiSTNR, with live streaming available right up to the last quarter of the Grand Final on Saturday, 30 September.

Steve ‘Stevie J’ Johnson has played more than 293 games, 15 seasons with the Geelong Cats and GWS Giants, three Premiership wins, was the recipient of the 2007 Norm Smith Medal and a three-time All-Australian player.

Johnson now finds a new home behind the microphone on Triple M. He will sit alongside returning legends, players and experts of the game, including James Brayshaw, Dale Thomas, Billy Brownless, Abbey Holmes, Nathan Brown, Leigh Montagna, Xavier Ellis, Bernie Vince, Jason Dunstall, Brian Taylor, Kate McCarthy, Luke Darcy, Damian Barrett, Ross Lyon and many more.

The 2023 Triple M footy season is ready to fly after SCA and the Australian Football League (AFL) announced an extension to their long-standing partnership for Audio Broadcast Rights and a multi-year podcast co-collaboration agreement to develop audio on demand concepts for the league.

In addition to Triple M’s line up, SCA’s footy commitment extends across the Triple M Network with its team and expert commentary analysis of the code with The Rush Hour Drive shows, The Midweek Rub, The Friday Huddle, The Saturday Rub, The Sunday Rub, and Dead Set Legends.

Listeners can hear each key game live across Triple M and streamed live on LiSTNR, as well as more footy content including newly announced podcast, Footy Talk – Daily Australian Rules Podcast and another new AFL podcast to launch shortly on LiSTNR.
