Best 10+ 14.8% (13.2%)

The recent lower results have turned around with Ben Fordham back at #1 after Kyle and Jackie O slipped lower at KIIS FM. The station lifted an impressive 3.4 to its best 10+ share since 2018. The breakfast show was up 3.5 with its best result since Survey 1 this year. The surge was felt right across most dayparts with Ray Hadley in mornings up 3.5 to 16.8% and Deborah Knight in afternoons up 3.6 to 11.9%. Jim Wilson and John Stanley also lifted in drive and evenings, but by smaller amounts.

KIIS 1065 8.7% (10.6%)

Cume: 1,038,000 (-11,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 9.7% (8.1%)
Best Breakfast 11.3% (9.9%)

While they have lost bragging rights as Sydney’s #1 overall breakfast show, Kyle and Jackie O have still managed their 21st consecutive win as #1 FM. They can also boast more listeners than any other radio shown around the country. Listening 18-24 was up, but shares 25+ were down. KIIS now shares drive FM drive leadership with smoothfm.

smoothfm 95.3 8.4% (10.0%)

Cume: 963,000 (+7,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 10.8% (8.1%)

Share slipped again here, down to 8.4%, which is the lowest share since Survey 1, 2020. Breakfast with Bogart and Glenn dipped 1.1 to 6.2%. Big falls in at-work listening with more working from home – morning dropped 4.1 to 7.7% and afternoon was down 2.7 to 98.8%. Listening spiked 18-25 but dropped 40+.

Best Breakfast 9.1% (7.4%)

WSFM is #3 FM overall with Jonesy and Amanda #2 FM breakfast as their share continues to improve – +0.8 to 8.8% this survey. That is their equal second-best result in three years. The station highpoint is mornings with 9.2% where the station now ranks #1, overtaking smoothfm.

Cume: 1,004,000 (-67,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 7.7% (6.1%)
Best Breakfast 8.0% (6.4%)

Cume continues to hold above 1m, but only just. Fitzy and Wippa remain #1 FM breakfast despite share dropping 0.3 to 6.1%. The station performs best in drive where Kate, Tim and Joel are on 8.2 after a drop of 0.7. Listening 18-24 was up slightly, but Nova dropped from #2 to #3 after smoothfm’s surprise surge.

104.9 Triple M 4.7% (5.0%)

Cume: 555,000 (-33,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 6.1% (4.7%)
Best Breakfast 6.0% (4.9%)

The SCA FM double continues to trail the market with lockdown not doing either station any favours. Triple M gave back the small cume bump it got in Survey 4. The two dayparts to narrowly avoid the downward trend were breakfast with Moonman and drive with Mick Molloy. Both went up by the smallest possible margin – 0.1. Share dived 18-24, but held steady 40+.

104.1 2Day FM 2.6% (3.3%)

Cume: 582,000 (-7,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 5.3% (3.3%
Best Breakfast 4.2% (2.5%)

A station share on 2.6% is a new all-time low. Breakfast was even lower on 2.4% which looks like an equal all-time low after sitting there in mid-2019 too.

2UE 954 2.7% (3.0%)

Cume: 169,000 (+4,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 1.2% (0.6%)
Best Breakfast 1.1% (0.3%)

Recent improvement eased this survey, but share of 2.7% is second-best since the start of 2018. Steve Jacobs at breakfast too went down, but he is still posting the second-best breakfast numbers for the new format.

Sky Sports Radio 0.9% (0.7%)

Cume: 141,000 (+53,000)
2020 results: Best/worst
Best 10+ 0.9% (0.5%)

Small improvement for the 10+ and breakfast shares. The demo moves might surprise some. The racing station has its best share again, 2.3 (+0.8), amongst listeners 10-17.

SEN 1170 0.6% (0.6%)

Cume: 73,000 (+25,000)
