Mavrik Geyer signs two-year deal with Perth Bears
The son of Western Reds legend Mark Geyer joins Perth's NRL expansion club as an inaugural squad member for 2027.

Mavrik Geyer, son of Western Reds legend Mark Geyer, has signed a two-year deal with the Perth Bears, the NRL's incoming expansion club, ahead of the competition's return to Western Australia in 2027.
The 25-year-old, who was part of the Penrith Panthers' 2024 premiership-winning squad, will become an inaugural member of the Bears' playing roster when the club makes its debut at HBF Park next season.
Family connection to the West
Geyer has played 16 first-grade games across stints with the Panthers and Wests Tigers since making his debut in 2024. His father, Mark, played 33 first-grade games for the Western Reds between 1995 and 1996.
"It's a pretty special moment for our family to have the chance to represent the Bears in their first season," said Mavrik Geyer. "Dad loved his time in Perth, and I feel privileged to have the opportunity to represent the proud people of Western Australia. I know how passionate they are about their sport, and I can't wait to run onto HBF Park next season."
Meninga backs Geyer's versatility
Perth Bears head coach Mal Meninga said Geyer's ability to play in the middle or on the edge made him an attractive signing for the expansion club.
"Mav works very hard in both attack and defence, and I'm excited to see what he can bring to our squad for next season," Meninga said.
"He is effective in the middle and on the edge. He will make an immediate impact on our footy team. It's a pretty special moment for Mav and his family, and I'm delighted to welcome them all back to Western Australia."
