Nova Entertainment has announced the return of Sarah McGilvray in the newly created role of program director network shows. McGilvray will lead the day-to-day management of the Nova Network’s flagship national shows.

Reporting to group program operations director, Brendan Taylor, McGilvray will lend her two-decades of broadcast expertise to support the producers working on The Chrissie Swan Show, Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel, and Smallzy’s Surgery, while also working with Taylor on programming strategy.

Brendan Taylor said: “I’m so pleased to welcome Sarah back to our business. She has extensive broadcast experience, including over a decade with Nova Entertainment, and her show credentials speak for themselves. I am genuinely thrilled she is returning to lead our network show output.”

Sarah McGilvray said: “I’m looking forward to working alongside Brendan and the Nova programming team, and excited to work with our amazing roster of network talent.”

A respected professional with experience across multiple broadcast networks, McGilvray has worked with some of the best in the business; from time with 2GB’s Ray Hadley and serving as executive producer of the Kyle & Jackie O Show to working on Channel Nine’s Today Show.

McGilvray joined the Nova Network as executive producer of Merrick & Dools 12 years ago, and then the Fitzy & Wippa team in September 2011. She was instrumental in the show’s transition from national Drive to the Sydney Breakfast slot. In 2016 she took on the dual roles of program director for Nova 96.9 and co-host with Fitzy & Wippa from 6-9am and nationally from 6-7pm.

McGilvray has hosted live music events such as the Fire Fight Australia Concert for Bushfire Relief and Nova’s Red Rooms, as well as other radio shows including Confidential on Nova (a national weekend show featuring celebrity interviews and gossip, with The Daily Telegraph’s Jonathon Moran) and a Saturday morning Breakfast show The Matt, Sarah & Matty J Show (with ex-Bachelor Matty J).

Her podcast Not Another Parenting Podcast, co-hosted with Cathrine Mahoney, was #1 in Australia, New Zealand and Ireland, and #15 in the UK. It also featured on Virgin Airlines inflight entertainment, Today Extra, Daily Mail and news.com.au.

McGilvray’s first day as program director network shows is next Monday, June 5, 2023.
