Tapt Media's National Content Manager, Greg Byrnes, is a happy chap.

Speaking to Mediaweek after strong radio ratings were released yesterday, Byrnes said, with his characteristic enthusiasm, “I'm excited.”

And there's plenty to be excited about.

Ben Fordham has held his top spot at 2GB in Sydney, helping make 2GB the city's No.1 talk station with a 10.8 audience share and a market-leading 31.0% commercial streaming share.

Ben Fordham Live is Sydney's outright No.1 Breakfast show across all stations with a 13.9 audience share and 45.3% commercial streaming share.

“Those streaming numbers yesterday are the strongest we've ever had,” Byrnes said.

“Streaming opens us up to a new audience, and offers programmatic advertising - which helps target specific audiences for advertisers.”

Byrnes added, "We're holding firm on our traditional audience, places of trust, such as news, sport, entertainment.

"There are also huge developments on digital platforms, which are our growth assets.

"If you want to listen in the car via radio, or at home on your Google device, we've got it covered.

"Survey 6 highlights strength of our talk audio network"

Tapt Media's talk stations have claimed the No.1 Breakfast programs in both Sydney and Melbourne in the GfK Radio 360 Survey 6 2026, while 3AW has held its position as Melbourne's outright No.1 station.

The network's total cumulative radio audience reached 1.78 million listeners across the survey period, up 4.6% year-on-year, as more Australians tuned in to talk radio across broadcast and digital platforms.

Tapt Media also continues to lead the commercial live audio streaming market nationally, with a 25.8% commercial streaming share. Its streaming audience grew to 485,000 listeners, up 12.8% year-on-year.

In an official statement, Byrnes said the results reflected the strength of the network's flagship programs in the country's two largest markets.

“Led by 3AW and 2GB's dominant breakfast shows, Survey 6 highlights the enduring strength of our talk audio network,” Byrnes said.

"Across the country, our audience is growing year-on-year, off the back of standout local increases like Millsy and Karl's big jump on 6PR breakfast.

"With streaming surging almost 13 per cent, it’s now the highest on record and shows audiences are connecting with us across every platform.

"We are deeply grateful to everyone tuning in.”
