Melbourne Radio Ratings 2026 Survey 5: 3AW holds top spot as Gold and smoothfm rise

Gold gains on 3AW as smoothfm hits double digits, while Triple M and Fox FM lose share across Melbourne in GfK Survey 5.

Melbourne’s radio race got a little tighter in Survey 5, with 3AW holding onto top spot while Gold 104.3 continued to nibble away at its lead.

Overall

3AW remains Melbourne’s radio king, but Gold 104.3 is creeping a little closer. 

3AW dipped 0.1 points to 14.1%, while Gold climbed 0.6 to 11.4%, leaving just 2.7 points between them. Gold also added 52,000 listeners to reach a cume of 1.18 million, with breakfast jumping 1.3 points to 10%.

The talk station held top spot with 14.1%, down just 0.1 points, while Gold climbed 0.6 to 11.4%. Gold also added 52,000 listeners, taking its cume to 1.18 million.

The survey’s biggest riser was smoothfm 91.5, up 0.8 points to 10.3% and into double digits. Its cume, however, fell by 39,000 to 1.124 million.

Nova 100 dipped slightly to 8.7%, while Fox FM had a rougher run, falling a full point to 8.2% and losing 78,000 listeners.

But the biggest hit belonged to Triple M, down 1.1 points to 6.1%, with its cume falling by 67,000.

ABC Melbourne had better news, climbing 0.5 points to 6% and adding 21,000 listeners. SEN went the other way, dropping 0.9 points to 4.1%.

Breakfast

At breakfast, 3AW remains in a league of its own.

The station eased 0.6 points to 19.5%, but still sits well clear of the pack.

Nova 100 was next on 10.8%, up 0.4 points, while Gold 104.3 cracked double figures after jumping 1.3 points to 10%.

Fox FM slipped 1.1 points to 8.9%, while smoothfm continued its upward run, gaining 0.8 points to 8.4%.

ABC Melbourne matched Gold for the biggest breakfast gain, rising 1.3 points to 6.6%.

Further down, Triple M fell 0.9 points to 5.4%, while SEN recorded breakfast’s biggest drop, down 1.2 points to 5.1%.
