Nova 106.9 11.5%
Share was down for all four commercial FM stations, which helped Nova remain #1 overall despite share dipping 0.9. Breakfast with Ash, Kip, Luttsy and Susie O’Neill was down 1.1 to 11.3%. The show was able to hold at #1, but the margin between Nova and Hit at breakfast is just 0.3. Highest rating daypart still belongs to Kate, Tim and Marty where share is on 16.0%.
Hit 105 10.9%
Breakfast with Stav, Abby and Matt was down 1.0 to 11.0% yet they remain just 0.3 behind Nova. The station peaks in afternoon with shares of 12.6% and 12.9% for afternoon and drive.
97.3 FM 10.7%
Of all the FM casualties, the ARN station suffered the least with share down just 0.1. Bianca, Mike and Bob managed to lift breakfast share 0.3 to 9.3%, yet they are now behind 4BC breakfast in addition to their three commercial FM rivals. Afternoon remains the highpoint with 12.2% where 97.3 trails only Hit 105 by 0.4.
104.5 Triple M 10.0%
Audiences checked out in all dayparts except evening. The biggest loss was in morning and afternoon where each daypart share was down over 3.0. This is the station’s third successive drop and it is back to 2017 levels. Breakfast with Marto, Robin and Nick Cody slipped 1.1 to 10.6%. That’s well off its 2018 year-end share of 14.1% and its lowest share in 12 months.
Another huge survey for the over-achieving AM music station. It is no stranger to these sort of numbers though with a 9.9% last year and even one survey in double figures in 2017. Breakfast with Laurel, Gary and Mark continues to be a star performer with share up to 9.1%, now just 0.2 behind 97.3. This is the best start to the year for the breakfast team with shares of 10.5% and now 9.1% in the first three surveys of 2019. Morning is strong too with share up 2.0 to 10.0%.
Alan Jones secures the big $8m paycheque because he’s building good audiences in Sydney and Brisbane. His 9.4% breakfast share is the best ever since Jones’ show added Brisbane breakfast. Ray Hadley too is venturing into unchartered territory – 8.0% up to 10.5% – with Queenslanders warming to the election campaign coverage he and his colleagues supplied.
Macquarie Sports 882 0.8%
Small bump this survey with drive and evening lifting share to just over 1.0%
