Podcast Ranker April 2021: iHeartPodcast’s Life Uncut moves into top 5

Total podcast downloads from Podcast Ranker participating publishers were 48.2m in April 2021. That is up significantly from 33.8m in April 2020. Month-on-month though the number is down slightly from 50m in March this year, the biggest month ever for downloads.

A number of new entities appear in the Top 100 Podcast Ranker this reporting period including The Scorecard with Liam Flanagan (SCA-LiSTNR) which was the highest new entry. Also new this month were Fear and Greed Business Headlines (Nova), and the horror podcast Lore from the producers of The Walking Dead (ARN/iHeartMedia).

Casefile True Crime (Audioboom) remained in the #1 spot as the most downloaded podcast in the country this reporting period. The only new arrival in the top 10 was Triple M’s AFL Footy podcast which dropped 118 episodes across the month.

Kyle and Jackie O remains the #1 catch-up radio podcast at #4, ahead of 1116 SEN’s Garry and Tim breakfast show at #12, up one spot from #13.

Hamish & Andy’s Remembering Project made its mark again as the new season stormed the chart, returning at #26 for its second season.

Indie publisher Podshape have a second series on the Australian Ranker chart with Confessions of a Train Wreck (#99) joining Your Morning Mantra (#70).

While SCA-LiSTNR narrowly has the most podcasts on the chart (386), ARN/iHeartMedia continues to have the most downloads with over 12m in April.

In the publisher top 10, Nova moved up two places to #6.

Participating publishers in the Australian Ranker include ARN/iHeartMedia, Audioboom, Babyology, Diamantina, Kinderling Kids Radio, News Corp Australia, Nine, Nova, Podshape, Schwartz Media, Southern Cross Austereo, Sports Entertainment Network, Stitcher Media, TOFOP Productions, Wavelength Creative, West Australian Newspapers, and Wondery.
