NOVA Entertainment has announced the launch of Occasionally Funny, a new podcast from MAFS Funny creator and host Joshua Fox, alongside Married At First Sight 2026 participant Sam Stanton.
The podcast is a spin-off of MAFS Funny, which NOVA said has recorded more than 4.5 million downloads since launching in January 2025.
According to the network, Occasionally Funny will cover dating, reality television, gay culture, trending moments and mental health conversations.
Sam Stanton joins as co-host
Stanton, who appeared on this year’s season of Married At First Sight, was revealed as Fox’s co-host following a storyline within the podcast in which listeners helped choose between Stanton and Fox’s mother for the role.
Fox said, “Sam is the dream co-host already because his wholesomeness balances my chaos perfectly. Even though we have so much in common, it’s incredible how different we are when it comes to everything, including dating and hookups!”
Stanton added: “I don’t have many gay friends, so I’m excited that I’ve become so close with Josh and that we now get to have a laugh but also talk about life as gay men in society these days. I’m also excited to show there’s more to me than ‘sooky Sam,’ which I felt was mostly shown on Married At First Sight.”
Nova expands podcast slate
Rachel Corbett, Network Director for Nova Podcasts, said the new show builds on the audience established through MAFS Funny.
“Josh has built a hugely engaged audience around MAFS Funny, because he instinctively understands internet culture and how audiences want to interact with content. Occasionally Funny expands on that in a really natural way. Sam and Josh have great chemistry, and the show gives them room to move beyond MAFS, while keeping the humour and community connection his audience loves.”
Occasionally Funny is produced by AIIMS Creator Hub, which has partnered with NOVA Entertainment since March 2025.
New episodes will launch weekly on Wednesdays via the Nova Player and podcast platforms.
