Hungry Jack’s has raised a record $2.805 million for Make-A-Wish Australia through the sixth year of its annual fundraising campaign.

The result followed the sale of 316,000 donation stars nationwide throughout June. It takes the restaurant chain’s total fundraising for the charity to more than $13 million since 2017.

How the campaign raised $2.805 million

Customers purchased stars valued from $2 to $1,000 in Hungry Jack’s restaurants, drive-throughs and through its app. Hungry Jack’s suppliers contributed more than $350,000 to the final result.

Double-Down Weekend also supported the campaign, with Hungry Jack’s matching every customer donation made during the activation.

Make-A-Wish Australia chief executive officer Sally Bateman said: “The generosity shown by local communities and the dedicated Hungry Jack’s team throughout this campaign has been extraordinary.

Supporting Australia’s wish pipeline

More than 900 children are currently on a wish journey, according to Make-A-Wish. The charity said another one to two children join its program for every wish granted.

The campaign also cited research estimating that more than 18,000 children are living with a critical illness across Australia.

“We have more than 900 children currently waiting for their wish to be granted, and this record-breaking donation means that we can continue bringing their wishes to life,” Bateman said.

Hungry Jack’s chief executive officer Chris Green said: “Every star sold and every dollar donated has gone toward something bigger than any of us.

“Making a difference is core to who we are at Hungry Jack’s, and I couldn’t be prouder of our crew, suppliers, franchisees and customers for showing up in such a big way.”

Australians can continue supporting the charity through the Make-A-Wish Australia website.
