After a downward dip across the station in the last survey, 3AW has made some ground back up. In breakfast, Ross and Russ saw ratings grow 1.2 to 20.5% – the biggest rise in ratings, and almost double the share of their closest competitor. Evenings was the timeslot with the biggest dip, with the combination of Luke Grant (in for Money News host Brooke Corte) and Denis Walter slipping from 14.8% to 13.6%. Cume continued to hold above 800,000.

Christian O’Connell continues to power Melbourne’s leading FM station as the ARN band extends its rating-winning streak as #1 FM and #1 FM breakfast. Gold had its first-ever year with share over 10% in every survey in 2021 and it’s on track to do it again in 2022. Daytime share continues to peak in afternoon with a marketing-leading slice of 13.7% of the market tuning in this time. Gold also remains overall drive champ despite a 1.6 point dip, with 11.2%. Gold remains a clear leader 40-54 and in this survey has overtaken 3AW to become the top station for 55-64 as well.

With this survey, smoothfm posts its fifth consecutive 10+ share at or above 9%. The result comes off the back of slights dips in share at breakfast (down 0.3 to 7.3%) and drive (down 0.4 to 9.2%). Smoothfm’s strongest demos were 25-39 and 65+, both with a 9.5% share.

Fox continues to lead the market in cume which is a strong result with five FM stations all posting cume audiences over 1m. The Fox cume remains #1 1.345m. All dayparts continue to contribute, led by Drive with Carrie & Tommy remaining steady with a 10.2% share. Breakfast with Fifi, Fev and Nick is on 7.4% after a 1.5 point dip. Fox grabbed top spot for 18-24 (overtaking KIIS) in the last survey, and has kept that title after a 3.3 point increase brought it to an 18% share. Fox is also top in 25-39.

Nova’s share has slid by half a point this survey, bringing the station to a 7.4% share. Last month, breakfast’s Chrissie, Sam and Browny announced that they would be departing the station at the end of the year. The breakfast show has dipped by a point in this survey, going from 9.1% to 8.1%. The audience returns in drive, where Kate, Tim and Joel bring in an 8.8% share – after a 1.1 point drop. Smallsy saw his evening number down 0.8 to 7.4%. Nova 100 continues to lead the 10-17 demo.

After the last survey saw Triple M posting the station’s best share since a 7.6% in Survey 1, 2019, this survey has seen a slight dip. The 7.1% share is still the second highest share of 2022 so far. In breakfast, Marty Sheargold‘s share dipped 0.2 points for a share of 6.1%

KIIS 101.1 FM 6.7% (6.7%)

KIIS has stayed steady in this survey, with a 6,7% share. Breakfast’s Jase and Lauren were down a little, from 7.8% to 7.3%. In Drive, Will and Woody carry the KIIS flag with a 7.6% share, up 0.4. Cume continued to rise, and KIIS is now just 1,000 behind Nova.

The Melbourne flagship SEN station has steadied close to 3.0%, this survey dipping 0.1 for a 2.8% share. Breakfast with Garry and Tim (on most days) posted a 3.1% share.

Magic improved by 0.4 points, bringing it to a 1.6% share. Breakfast stayed steady at 0.6 (it was lower five times last year) and morning, drive and evenings grew by 0.7 in each slot.

3MP narrowly trails Magic, up 0,3 points this survey. Breakfast was down 0.2 points for a 0.5% share, while Drive was up 0.7 points for a 1.6% share.

Steady on 0.6% is where the station sat for the final three surveys of 2021, and remains now. Breakfast share was also steady this survey on 0.7%. The best share at the specialist racing station is 1.1% on weekends.
