Meghan Markle's Netflix show earns Emmy nod after backlash
'This is literally the only reason I will watch the Emmys this year.'

Despite being universally panned by viewers and critics, The Duchess of Sussex's lifestyle show on Netflix has earned a 2026 Emmy Award nomination.
The former Meghan Markle made the announcement public, posting a pretty shot in the garden, and writing in the caption: "A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on ‘With Love, Meghan’ on @netflix.
"We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!"
The program premiered in March 2025, running for two seasons with an additional Christmas special. But the honour has come as a surprise to many.
The show was widely labelled "unrelatable," with the Duchess being slammed for her 'aspirational and unachievable' content.
There's been little opportunity for the public to congratulate the Duchess, as the comments are turned off as per usual on her posts. But it hasn't stopped the news being met with negativity elsewhere online, with social media users ready to get stuck into the former actor for her success.

- "Lemme get this straight. Her show failed to crack the top 100, and was not renewed by Netflix and yet she got an Emmy nomination? The math ain’t mathing here."
- "But no one could afford to make anything from the show."
- "'Outstanding Lifestyle Program'. Is this a joke? It was universally panned and cancelled by Netflix?"
And this person couldn't resist noting: "Show was #1000 on the Netflix viewership list, the whole thing was top tier cringe, but now it’s nominated for an Emmy? For what, exactly? Oh that’s right, she showed us all how to use Ziplock bags & put flower sprinkles on toast."
Harsh.
However, the show was evidently enjoyed by many, and they welcomed the Emmy nomination news enthusiastically.
For example, one viewer said online, "This is literally the only reason I will watch the Emmys this year."
Another also enthusiastically wrote, "Oh Duchess Meghan, the woman you are! Congratulations on your creative achievement! This was like your lovesong to all things cosy, yummy and beautiful! I'm so happy for you!!!"
In a year where news of her cancelled Netflix deal and rumours of her struggle to secure income made headlines, let's hope there's some good news for the Duchess in September.
