Mediaweek HOT List November 2022: Waking up with Match & Wood

Hot List

Three of the agencies this month have a total of 17 Hot List appearances this year

The Mediaweek Hot List monthly feature is compiled by Mediaweek contributing editor Greg Graham. This is the seventh Hot List after launching in May 2022.

Regular readers might notice several of the agencies on Sparrow’s Hot List have made multiple appearances this year – when you’re hot you’re hot…

Sizzling HOT

Media agency: Atomic 212

Giddy up, what an excellent start out of the barriers winning the Entain Australia account (Ladbrokes & Neds ) rumoured to be one of the biggest pitches of the year with estimated billings of up to $70 million. Second consecutive month on the Mediaweek Hit List. A new office in Brisbane to join Sydney, Melbourne, and Darwin. Capping off a great year in new business with Aware Super, Freedom Kitchens, Price Attack, etc…

Hot List

Creative Agency: The Monkeys

I am a big fan of the Effies and The Monkeys were named Effective Creative Agency of the Year for the third consecutive year, brilliant work on Telstra & Beam Suntory. Plus, they continue to create provocative ideas for some of Australia’s most respected brands e.g., Australia Post, MLA, BCF, Supercheap Auto, Qantas, Ladbrokes, etc. The Monkeys have appeared on six of the seven Hit Lists this year.

Media Agency: Initiative

They continue their hot streak (like The Monkeys, the agency has been on our Hot List six times this year) with additional new business wins and more award accolades. The most recent win Energy Australia caps off a stellar new business year with IAG, Australian Unity, Bank of Queensland, etc.

Creative Agency: The Special Group

They are super Special (five Hot List appearances this year) with the Grand Effie for Tonight I’ll be eating … for Uber Eats. This incredible campaign won a swag of Effies with Gold & Silver trophies. The client was also named Effective Advertiser of the Year.

Media Agency: Match & Wood

This hot indie has been making noise in Melbourne, especially with its big win of Snooze. November is its first Hot List appearance. Along with some other great wins such as Chobani and Curtin University, it has been a hot year for new business success.

Creative Agency: Leo Burnett

One of my favourite creative agencies with an excellent heritage took home the Most Original Thinking Effie for the outstanding campaign for Suncorp One House to Save Many (July 2022 Hot List). This work deserves all the recognition it is getting both locally and globally for a wonderful local client Suncorp and its committed agency collaborators.
