WIN Television will stop broadcasting Network 10 channels in Griffith, the South Australian Riverland and Mount Gambier, saying the services are no longer commercially viable.

The final day of broadcast will be Friday 9 October 2026, with Network 10, 10 Drama and 10 Comedy all affected across the Griffith and MIA, Riverland and Mount Gambier licence areas.

The decision follows the conclusion of WIN’s short-term agreement with Paramount. Viewers in the affected regions will continue to access Network 10 programming for free through 10.com.au and the 10 app.

Regional broadcasting economics bite

In a statement announcing the shutdown, WIN said it and Paramount recognised that providing the services in those markets was no longer viable.

“This is a business decision that reflects the realities of regional broadcasting,” WIN said.

The broadcaster pointed to high transmission and infrastructure costs, alongside declining audiences and advertising revenue as viewing shifts to digital platforms.

“These economics will continue to make it challenging to maintain services across regional Australia,” WIN said.

WIN acknowledged the decision would disappoint viewers and thanked them for their understanding.

Network 10 responds

A Network 10 spokesperson said the network had worked with WIN to explore ways to keep its content available through local broadcasts.

“WIN holds the broadcast licences in the Riverland, Mount Gambier and Griffith regions and although Network 10 has worked closely with WIN to explore options to maintain local access to its content, WIN has advised that continuing to operate them is no longer commercially viable.

“Network 10 remains committed to serving regional Australian audiences. Viewers in these regions will continue to have free access to Network 10 programming via 10.com.au and the 10 app.”
