Foxtel and Netflix have renewed their long-standing partnership under a new multi-year deal, keeping Netflix bundled into Foxtel’s Platinum Plus iQ subscription.

Under the renewed agreement, Platinum Plus customers will continue to receive Netflix as part of their Foxtel subscription, and the streaming service will also be integrated across the Foxtel iQ platform.

The deal extends a partnership that began in 2019, when Netflix became the first streaming app included on Foxtel’s iQ platform.

Foxtel backs aggregation strategy

Foxtel Group executive director, content and commercial partnerships Stephanie Quinn said Netflix remained a key strategic partner as DAZN builds its aggregation strategy in Australia.

“Netflix remains one of the world’s leading streaming services, and as DAZN continues to aggregate the best entertainment brands for Australian audiences, they remain a key strategic partner.”

Netflix became the foundation streaming app on Foxtel’s iQ platform in 2019 and has remained integrated into the service since. Quinn said customer engagement with Netflix had been strong, pointing to demand for accessing streaming and Foxtel content through a single platform.

“Together, we’ve helped shape the way Australians access and enjoy their favourite entertainment shows and movies.”

The arrangement gives Foxtel iQ customers access to Netflix titles including Stranger Things, Bridgerton and Squid Game alongside Foxtel programming and originals including Colin From Accounts, The Five Star Weekend and The Other Bennet Sister.

Allen Pan

Netflix director, business development - Rest of Asia (ANZ, Greater China, and SEA), Allen Pan said the partnership was focused on making both services easier to access.

“Netflix's partnership with Foxtel has always been about making it as easy as possible for Australians to find the local and international films and TV shows they love, in one place. We're proud to extend this partnership and keep bringing the world's best entertainment to Australian screens.”

Foxtel expands its streaming hub

Foxtel managing director Steve O’Connor said the extension was part of the company’s broader push to bring premium television, on-demand content and streaming services together through iQ.

He said the renewed Netflix deal built on a shared ambition between DAZN and Netflix to give customers greater “value, choice and convenience”, while strengthening Foxtel’s position as an entertainment aggregator.

“By bringing together premium television, on-demand content and world-class streaming services, Foxtel continues to strengthen its position as Australia’s leading entertainment aggregator and make it easier for customers to find and enjoy the content they love.”
