carsales puts Westpac finance inside the private car hunt

Customers browsing private listings can now see finance information provided by Westpac, including an indicative weekly repayment and comparison rate. Buyers can then continue to Westpac to explore finance options.
Finance moves closer to the car search
The new referral pathway is designed to reduce the separation between finding a vehicle and working out how to pay for it. It extends carsales’ finance offering beyond dealer listings and into its private marketplace.
The move also builds on carsales’ existing payment solution, which the company said has facilitated more than $420 million in secure transactions.
Craig Fraser, carsales Managing Director, said: “At carsales, everything we do comes back to helping buyers find the right car with more confidence. Finance is a big part of that decision, and this new pathway brings it into the private car-buying journey rather than leaving it as a separate step. It's a natural extension of our work to support customers across every stage of the buying journey, whether they're exploring private or dealer listings.

Westpac targets buyers earlier in the journey
Carolyn McCann, Westpac Chief Executive of Consumer, said the partnership gives consumers access to finance information earlier in the buying process.
“Buying a car is more than a transaction, it’s an important life moment and people want the process to feel simple. We’re pleased to work with carsales to make it easier for people to access finance earlier in the journey, helping them feel more informed and confident as they take the next step.”
