Mark ‘Howie’ Howard signs new long-term deal with SCA to continue podcast production.

LiSTNR has renewed its long-standing partnership with one of Australia’s leading sports podcasts, The Howie Games, following a new long-term deal with host and creator Mark ‘Howie’ Howard.

Since launching in July 2017, The Howie Games has released over 240 episodes featuring in-depth conversations with prominent athletes including Leigh Matthews, Oscar Piastri, Ellyse Perry, and Shaquille O’Neal. The show has become a staple for listeners seeking personal stories and insights from figures across the sporting spectrum.

The partnership secures the podcast’s continued presence on Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) LiSTNR platform, reinforcing its position as a key offering in the company’s sports content lineup.

Grant Tothill, Executive Head LiSTNR Operations and Audience, said: “We’re thrilled to extend our partnership with The Howie Games. Howie is one of Australia’s most experienced and versatile sports broadcasters and sets the benchmark as an interviewer.”

Mark Howard, who began his broadcasting career covering Formula One in the 1990s and has worked across events such as the Olympic Games and the Big Bash League, said the renewed deal reflects a shared commitment to evolving the podcast format. “It’s a privilege to work closely with such a committed group of good mates in Thomas Dullard, Michael James, and Darcy Thomson, as well as the wider team led by the big chief Grant Tothill. We are working on a couple of exciting new projects alongside the regular Howie Games episodes that we can’t wait for our wonderful listeners to tune in to,” he said.

The deal comes as podcast networks increasingly invest in long-form and personality-led content with cross-platform potential across video and social channels.
