Australian comedian Dave ‘Hughsey’ Hughes has admitted to using fellow comedian Melanie Bracewell‘s drinking glass to relieve himself offstage.

The ‘beef’ between the pair emerged earlier this week when Bracewell made the surprising claim.

“By the way, the first time we met he peed in one of my glasses I use for stage because he couldn’t go out to the bathroom,” she said in the comments of one of her TikToks about Hughes.

The tv host then shared another TikTok featuring DMs between her and Hughes from April 26, 2022.

In the screenshot, Hughes wrote, “Can we ring you on our radio show to talk backstage cups today? Just after 7am? Will plug Cheap Seats!”

Bracewell replied, “Oh yo! I just woke up hahaha”.

Hughesy then cheekily asked, “Do you want the glass back?”

Hughes has told Daily Mail Australia the incident happened to avoid an on-stage accident.

“I’ve done it maybe four times in my life before solo shows when the backstage had no toilet… I didn’t want to wet myself onstage,” he said.

“Absolutely never when anyone else was around, that would be terrible!

“Peter Helliar had a go at me about it once, and I think Mel was in the same venue. I asked her to come on my radio show and roast me about it, she did, we all laughed a lot,” Hughes added.

“I had no idea she was so aghast; she did a great job in joining in on the group ridicule of me, and then we gave her tour and TV show a big plug. I don’t want to feud with another comic over things we laughed about.”

Unsurprisingly, the exchange has gone viral online.

@clubletto The real victims in this are the wait staff who have to TOUCH the cups after. Also, why can’t we go the bathroom men have so many options why opt for the cup instead of a toilet. All the videos are still up on all the socials. X Melanie @Melanie Bracewell Hughesy @DHughesy #influencersinthewild #comediahumor ♬ original sound - THE BOUNCER

How peeing in the glass came to light

Bracewell this week shared on TikTok this week, “The other day I wrote this pretty harmless joke about Hughesy, um, that he’s living from his tenants’ paycheck to tenants’ paycheck.

"Just a bit of fun. He’s a battler, just trying to put eight roofs over his head, you know?” Bracewell was referring to an X post she made where she wrote: “You gotta feel for Hughesy, he’s living from his tenants’ paycheck to tenants’ paycheck.”

Hughes objected, “Mel, I’m not part of the thievery gang. I’m trying to stop them. So many honest people are afraid to speak up because of the real fear of violent reprisal. You are doing the less fortunate a disservice by attacking people who speak out against corruption."

Bracewell replied, “It’s a joke, Hughesy; remember when you did those!”
